The Blue Abadi Fund (BAF) is a conservation trust fund designed to bridge funding gaps through a secure, long-term stream of additional resources. Its goal is to ensure that the marine biodiversity and ecosystems of the Bird’s Head Seascape (BHS) are sustainably managed and protected by local environmental guardians. 

Proposal Submission Terms and Conditions

  • Implementation Period: The grant implementation period is from April 2026 to March 2027 (including final reporting).
  • Priorities: Funding priorities are in accordance with the BAF Strategic Plan 2023–2028.
  • Periode pelaksanaan Hibah adalah April 2026 s.d. Maret 2027 (termasuk pelaporan akhir).
  • Dukungan pendanaan: (a). Funding Support: (a). Small-Scale Innovation Grant: Maximum IDR 155 million per organization. (b). Medium-Scale Innovation Grant: Maximum IDR 250 million per organization.

Funding Priorities (Referencing the BAF Strategic Plan 2023–2028)

STRATEGY 1

Supporting the continuation and enhancement of management for up to 5.2 million hectares of Marine Protected Area (MPA) networks in the waters of the Bird’s Head Seascape (BHS), through:

  • Surveillance of conservation areas.
  • Environmental education and outreach.
  • Conservation of rare or endangered species and critical ecosystems.
  • Scientific monitoring & evaluation of conservation areas in the BHS.

STRATEGY 2

Socially, politically, and economically supporting and learning from indigenous and local Papuan communities as guardians of the BHS environment, involving:

  • Sharing local wisdom and knowledge.
  • Deriving benefits from effective conservation practices and resource management.
  • Establishment and strengthening of community-based organization networks.

STRATEGY 3

Increasing the endowment fund capacity and BAF grant disbursement to enhance opportunities for conservation, sustainability, and local-based community development, involving

  • Focused fundraising to support the increase of the Blue Abadi Fund endowment to face new challenges and expanded needs.
